Genetic engineering differs fundamentally from traditional breeding. The insertion of a gene may cause the generation of unexpected harmful substances detrimental to health. There are no fully reliable methods for detecting such substances. The effects on the environment are very incompletely known. They may be potentially serious and irreversible. Science simply knows too little about genes to be able to tamper with them without potentially serious consequences. There is a world-wide consensus now among leading experts, that the basic assumption of genetic engineering - the idea that one gene determines one trait - is fundamentally wrong. Therefore it is impossible to transfer single traits through gene transfer. For the same reason, the effects of gene transfer is inherently unpredictable. Thus gene technology is an inevitably unsafe pseudotechnology without any scientific basis. The logical conclusion is that the exploitation of genetically engineered organisms for food production and other purposes must be banned indefinitely and unconditionally before the unpredictable health and environmental consequences result in another disaster ("The Showa Denko Tryptophan disaster" being the first). To you who care about the future of the world
We think that, after studying this website, you may have realized that the imminent avalanche of genetically engineered foods is not only unjustified and unnecessary, but a potentially serious threat to the health of mankind and to the global ecology. What you can doBecome a member of PSRASTAlone, you cannot do very much. Only by cooperating all over the world can we be successful. Therefore it is good to become organized. Hereby we invite you to become member of PSRAST. Membership is open to everybody, not only scientists and physicians. This is because everybody can make an important contribution to our campaign. You will find the link to our membership registration at the bottom of every page, but please read on first. Sponsor PSRAST - even a few dollars make a differenceBecause of the huge number of visitors to our site (over 312.000 people during 2006), it is meaningful to spend even a even just a few dollars if you cannot afford more. If you are not a member, it takes only a couple of minutes to register, and the service is for free. Here is the link to the page where you can make a donation: How to sponsor us. Spread the word
Thank you for your willingness to help.
