CONCLUSION

Genetic engineering differs fundamentally from traditional breeding. The insertion of a gene may cause the generation of unexpected harmful substances detrimental to health. There are no fully reliable methods for detecting such substances. The effects on the environment are very incompletely known. They may be potentially serious and irreversible.

Science simply knows too little about genes to be able to tamper with them without potentially serious consequences. There is a world-wide consensus now among leading experts, that the basic assumption of genetic engineering - the idea that one gene determines one trait - is fundamentally wrong. Therefore it is impossible to transfer single traits through gene transfer. For the same reason, the effects of gene transfer is inherently unpredictable. Thus gene technology is an inevitably unsafe pseudotechnology without any scientific basis.

The logical conclusion is that the exploitation of genetically engineered organisms for food production and other purposes must be banned indefinitely and unconditionally before the unpredictable health and environmental consequences result in another disaster ("The Showa Denko Tryptophan disaster" being the first).

To you who care about the future of the world

We think that, after studying this website, you may have realized that the imminent avalanche of genetically engineered foods is not only unjustified and unnecessary, but a potentially serious threat to the health of mankind and to the global ecology.

What you can do

Become a member of PSRAST

Alone, you cannot do very much. Only by cooperating all over the world can we be successful. Therefore it is good to become organized.

Hereby we invite you to become member of PSRAST. Membership is open to everybody, not only scientists and physicians. This is because everybody can make an important contribution to our campaign. You will find the link to our membership registration at the bottom of every page, but please read on first.

Sponsor PSRAST - even a few dollars make a difference

Because of the huge number of visitors to our site (over 312.000 people during 2006), it is meaningful to spend even a even just a few dollars if you cannot afford more. Seldom can a few dollars do so much as they will have a worldwide impact, because our website is visited by people from over 160 countries.

We have plans for a great improvement of the website including a great facelift of the design. In addition we will use different approaches to make our website even more known. This is just part of what you will get for the money. The more we have the more effective will be our campaign.

Recently we have established a cooperation with PayPal, which makes it very easy to sponsor us. Paying with Paypal is easier and more secure than with a credit card, so don't hesitate to do it. If you are not a member, it takes only a couple of minutes to register, and the service is for free. Here is the link to the page where you can make a donation: How to sponsor us.

Tell all your contacts about us. Below is an email template that you can use:

    Dear...

Are you aware of the hazards of Genetically Engineered Foods (also called Genetically Modified Foods or GMO:s)?

Do you know that it has been experimentally proven that GE foods can damage health and that they have even killed animals? Still these foods are on the market.

Do you know that the foremost experts on genes in the world have recently admitted that science knows very little about genes and that scientists therefore cannot predict or imagine what will be the consequences of manipulating the genes of a food plant? Therefore unpredictable harmful substances may appear without their knowing it.

Are you surprised? Or even sceptical about these statements? This may be because the Biotech corporations have spent many millions on misleading propaganda under the disguise of scientific and objective information, often supported by professors bought to advocate their interests. It has made many people wrongly believe that GE foods are good and safe.

This is a really serious problem endangering our health and the environment.

For more information I suggest you visit the world's most popular website on this topic. It is popular because it is easy to understand and is an impartial evaluataion of the issue. It is the website of Physicians and Scientists for Responsible Application of Science and Technology (PSRAST) at http://psrast.org. If you wonder if its worth doing, I suggest you also read "Why is the PSRAST website so popular?" at http://psrast.org/pop.htm

Learn about the hazards of Genetically Engineered foods

Genetically engineered foods are hazardous to your health and to the environmnent. Still they are spread all over the world.

Read an excellent website, the most popular one in the world in this field, that explains in a simple way, easy to read, why GE foods are dangerous and how it comes that they are being disseminated in spite of serious warnings from scientific experts and alarming experimental findings including death of animals eating this food.

It is the website of Physicians and Scientists for Responsible Application of Science and Technology (PSRAST), which you find at http://psrast.org

  • Mention us in relevant blogs, newsgroups, forums

Mention us anywhere on the internet where it is relevant but not where it is unsuitable, because if you irritate people it will be counterproductive. Try to reach as many as possible.

Thank you for your willingness to help.
