Risky microwave devices

The same kind of risk as for mobile phones pertain to cordless phones and Wi-Fi internet devices, see the table below.

It is the wave frequency that counts. Higher frequency is in general more harmful. The more recent systems for all three kinds of devices have moved into higher frequency bands.

Mobile phones and Cordless Phones cause the strongest radiation intensity because of the closeness to the antenna to the head.

Cordless phones pose a considerable additional risk. This is because their charger/antenna device, which is connected to the landline, irradiates microwaves day and night (not only when used as withmobile phones). The emission may be twice as strong as what is found 100 meters away from a mobile mast. Two meters away from the charger the radiation is 2.5 volts per meter - that's 50 times greater than what today is regard as a safe level - and this level is set far to high. Thus, having a cordless phone at home is like having a mobile base station inside the house! It is not surprising that an increased cancer risk has been found in users of cordless phones.

Wi-Fi is used for wireless internet connection and wireless networking. Even if the radiation intensity is lower than for mobile phones, it is problematic, because the radiation often persists for hours or throughout day and night. The German government has recommended people to use wired internet connection in stead of Wi-Fi. Quote:

The German Federal Government recommends that the use of WLAN in the workplace or at home should be avoided, if possible. In order to reduce personal radiation exposure, it is better to remain with conventional cable-connected networks.

Base Stations, the transmitters/receivers, often placed on house roofs, of the mobile phone systems emit 24 hr and cause long time exposure to people working or living close by. There are studies indicating a harmful health impact of these antennas. More about this.

Of course the cellphone industry protested against the decision of the German government, maintaining that there is no hazard. It is up to you to choose whether you trust the experts of an independent national governmental agency or an industry that has consistently been dishonest, if not fraudulent, regarding the safety of microwave radiation, see for example "15 reasons for concern".
